Working for God not man

"23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters," Colossians 3:23

It was only a couple years ago I truly understood this verse Paul wrote. He was trying to convey to the Colossians that we work for only God and not even our human bosses. This really changed my perspective about work.

I love my work, but, I will say it gets monotonous often. I will paint or stain a huge pile of the same thing then spray it, sand it, dust it, spray the finish coat at least once, and don't forget I have to sand and dust it before I can do any of this. Don't get me started on walking back and forth to the drying rack.

Before I worked for the Lord I would trudge through the labor for the reward at the end. I loved making things pretty so people would say WOW. My entire career of painting custom homes and everything in them has been a blessing to me. I felt fulfilled a little bit even before I submitted to the Grace of God.

I have had some of the crappiest bosses in my life. I have been fired more times than I could count. I have walked off as many as that. I was single so I could afford to live in my car or not have a job for a second. I was arrogant for sure. I learned how to see what was wrong or correct on a job and my fellow employees hated me because I was trying to make things better. They thought I was trying to make more work, but, in fact I was making it easier and more efficient. They did not want change. They were working for themselves.

Flashback a couple years ago I think I heard this verse at Church and it hit me right then and there. It was like I was washed off. I felt new. I had new purpose. I finally knew what I was supposed to be doing, working my tail off no matter what I am doing. I work for God's praises, not yours. I write this post daily for God and I receive blessings even if no one reads it. I am getting more out of this than you. The teacher learns more than the student. When I show someone how to sand or stain something I still learn new stuff even though I have been painting for 35 years.

Working for God brings me much joy. That joy is reflected in my work and the customer sees that and is happy. God shines through me even when I am sweeping if my heart is right.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your audience. Thank you for rewarding us for our work. Let our labor show how we love. Let them know we are Christians by our love. Thank you for making living as a Christian super simple that all we have to do is love each other and follow Jesus. I thank you in Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you @everyone being here. I love all you guys. WWJD for Life! 🥰
