This time of year I tend to reflect on past Christmas celebrations. The gift giving and receiving was fun. I remember going to the mall as a group and we would all split up and go shopping for each other. That was fun. We were always trying to guess what someone got for us.
The day always came to open said gifts and I always felt empty when I opened mine. Even though it was what I wanted I had zero excitement. The excitement for me was all of the hype of shopping and thinking of that person on an intimate level. That feeling was long gone before Christmas day.
The only gift I have ever received and have been so excited I can not shut up is the Gift of the Holy Spirit. God give me the right gifts so I can do what he asks me to. Nothing God gives me is wrong unlike the incense burner I gave my dad when I was 10. I do give monies but I can only give so much. The better gift is telling someone how I did not need to ask others for money anymore. How Jesus has lifted me from the pit and put me on high so I may serve others. I have received the glorious gift of knowledge. I can see what God has given me and I am learning how to use it.
Do you see the gifts God has given to you just for asking? The Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of all. Once having it dwell in me I never want to lose it. Now that I know I can not un-know. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of the holy Spirit. Thank you for giving us the desire to share it with others. Let our hearts stay pure and keep our selves out of it. Let us stay focused on the right gifts. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
