Fear of the unknown is something I think we all relate to. Some people handle it way better than others. I am the others. First attempts at things are a bit scary for me. I have no clue the outcome even though I thought it through.
One of my fondest memories is snowboarding. I watched Winter X-Games back in the day. I lived on mountains with tons of snow. I was fairly proficient on a board. I could do some simple tricks. 360's and riding fakey are the things I would do to try to show off.
I could not stop there. I always had to try harder. Bombing down KT Gully in Snowmass Colorado during a white out was a bit confusing. It was my first time on the cirque. I said a pray and pointed it downhill. Other than flying off the cirque into boulders and bruising my hip I was fine. I got down on my own.
The unknown for me was like always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Things are going so good I know it will break at some point. This is the paralyzing fear that grips me. But, no longer do I give into it.
Trusting in God is the only way. I have trusted everything and everyone else always to be let down. God never lets me down even if my dog dies. I know I have both shoes on and I no longer need to live in fear.
Are you afraid of the unknown? Or, can you handle it well? I have gotten much better since I put my trust in our Lord Jesus.
