Way back in 2010 I shut my painting business down due to the Great Financial Crisis. I could no longer bid as low as my competitors. I wondered how they could even afford the food and gas much less pay the bills.
I received a random call from one of my competitors asking if I would be his superintendent. He heard I closed down my company and knew my reputation. I could handle a crew of guys and teach them while still being efficient and come in under cost. I still had more to learn.
What I did learn with a crew of 30 dudes was I was to serve them. I did anything they asked. I made sure the schedules fit their needs and I jumped through hoops for them. I bought them sodas and lunches. I just wanted them to be happy. In return they became very loyal to me. I only had a couple of decenters that tried to take my job. I was a rock star for business reasons. That was temporary. I fell off of my high tower a few years later.
Now, I wish to serve others by being as Godly as I can. I wish to love them and show them how God's grace has given me new life. I will tell you this, people like me a lot more now. They like me for real reasons not because I was padding their pockets.
All I can dream of now is how to build a Trust that will help others and keep going after I die. All of my efforts are going to this. Along the way I will be serving and giving. Everything I build from now on will be to serve God thus serving you.
What can you do on the daily to serve others? As simple as it may seem our daily actions and words will do the serving if we trust in God. Showing love is the first thing we can do, then, maybe fulfilling physical needs for those who need it.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the chance to feed your sheep. Keep our hearts right so we may serve you by serving others. Let your light in us shine so people will see your goodness through us. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
