Back in the 80's our Church youth group had a Christmas tree lot to raise money to go skiing in Gatlinburg Tennessee. We had a steady youth group of about 200 kids between the ages of 13-18. We had a large congregation so we needed about $60,000 to make it all happen.
While in Gatlinburg we went to some place that had a Grand Ole Opry style show. This lady was singing and then all of the sudden she asked for someone to come on stage. Out of the hundreds of people there she picked me. I was being put on a pedestal for some reason and my mind went blank. It was all empty feeling to me.
People throughout my life would give me praise and encouragement yet I never knew how to take it. It felt somehow wrong for me to accept this from people. I would smile and say thanks but it was empty.
Once I dove into the word and looked for truth I had a realization that my good actions are those of God and my selfish ones are from the Devil. It is my choice what path to chose of course but, I finally learned how to accept encouragement from others. I see it as God using them to lift me up and let me know I am on the right path.
Do you accept encouragement very well? I have got better at it. Real encouragement comes from good only. God puts it in our hearts to be there for others when they need support.
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for supporting each of us through us. Thank you for changing our hearts so we may encourage others through you. Help us to spread the solution as we go out today and be a light for you. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
Thank you everyone for being here. I love all you guys. WWJD For Life! 🥰
