Hebrews 12:1-2
I bought some Powerball tickets the other day when it was at $400m plus. I only buy lottery tickets if the payout odds after taxes are the same as the payout. This is called true odds. The math works out so it is a fair bet. Otherwise, people are trying to win a million bucks with odds of 350,000,000 to 1, ish. But, I still lose because I buy prop side bets, like double play.
Well, needless to say, I did not win, but I have to be in it to win it. It is the same with Jesus. If I want His blessing, then I need to be in His arms. Jesus is not going to grab me up if I am not willing. I need to run to safety. Safety doesn't run to me.
My gamble with Jesus was a win. I won everything. Peace and love are all I was really looking for. I got it now. I have knowledge and the Holy Spirit in me. I have a guide that will never lead me astray.
I have won no matter what happens to this shell of a body. I have gained all of the riches of the world, it feels like. I no longer yearn for a yacht; I hunger for more ways to reach those who seek Jesus.
I have to be active in the objective Jesus has laid before me. I have to participate to get results. I feel it is not healthy to just accept Jesus then sit back and wait for the ride home. I have work to do. I am commanded by the Word to do work for God, to love everyone and speak the truth.
Are you in it to win it? My participation levels dictate my level of reward. Low risk, low reward. The more I strive to tell people about Jesus, the more confident I become. Then the more I learn to love, and this is rewarding for me. It is a win.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the promises made and promises kept. Please give us the desire to be in the Spirit so we may shine brightly for others to see the truth. I ask that our desires will be changed to want the things You offer us. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
