Solomon was too smart for his own good. God offered to give him whatever he asked for and he asked for wisdom. God gave him wisdom and it turns out it was more than Solomon could handle. He got a bit too inclusive by letting altars to false gods be placed all over the land. Hindsight tells me that Solomon was given wisdom and discernment to rule. He used to to get along. He wanted everyone to like him. He chased women, liquor, and parties. After years of living for the World he finally realizes that it is a all pointless. I tried what Solomon did. None of it worked. God gave me wisdom and I tried to use to to impress people. They were selfish just like I was. Always chasing the shiny things, what feels good. Familiarity can breed contempt especially for things that only take from us and hurt us.
God has rescued me from the pit. I have been given the peace and happiness I asked for. I was gifted wisdom to see through the fog of war. These gifts are for me to share. I am to walk in the light and love like Jesus loved.
God will take care of me if I seek Him first. Everything after that is a bonus. Life is good enough. It gives me time to tell people about Jesus. If I get a Lambo I will sell it and "feed His sheep". I have what I need so everything I get above it is bonus and not for me.
If God thinks I need a private jet than I will have one but I will not go looking for one. All I need to do is continue living for Jesus and doing work to grow the kingdom of God. Plant seeds and water them. Sometimes one or the other and sometimes both.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for giving us everything we need and not everything we ask for. Help us to be patient and remember that we are building our treasures in Heaven and not on this earth that can be destroyed. I pray that our hearts will remain open to receive your love so we may share it with the lost. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
