My life has done more than a 180 degree turn. It has flipped inside out and I am now in another dimension. I never knew this life existed. I keep saying stuff like this to people on occasion.
No one could describe it to me until I had experienced too much. I was reading the Bible when I was younger but my own emotions ruled me. I could not hear the Word of God I was reading daily. I feel it was more than just my emotions. I wonder if I got dropped on my head when I was a baby. I mean normal people can understand something if they read it sometimes only once.
In one ear and out the other. I loved church. The message always moved me but, I never heard the message of love. I lived in animosities on the inside while portraying the opposite on the outside.
Growing up in a defensive nature really took a toll on me. I was selfish out of need I felt. My younger experiences told me to always be ready to walk away. This made me skeptical of others. I did not look at them through the lens of love. I had selfish desires in my heart. I had to take care of me, I thought.
My New Years resolution some years back was to start doing exactly the opposite of what I had been my whole life. I went to Church and opened my bible and realized I am commanded to love because Jesus showed His love. God sent His only son to live on this earth and die for all of us to show us what love is.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this simple command to love one another as You love us. Thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to convict our hearts when our selves get in the way. Help us to keep our eyes on the prize of love. Guide our hearts and minds as we shine for you today. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
