It takes years to build a good reputation and a split second to lose it all, as the old saying goes. I know this from experience. My entire life I would shine really bright around new friends. It would not take long for me to lose all of the shininess as people saw through the veil. It always happened no matter what.
As Christians we get a ton of shade cast on us. People tend to think if one is a Christian then they should never sin. If we sin then we are called hypocrites. If I lose my cool for one second I am a hypocrite. If I even look at a female someone might call me out.
I am glad people are there to call me out. I need it. I need to be whipped into shape. I am human. I constantly fail but, my failures do not physically or financially hurt others anymore. I do not mess with peoples brains to make them feel inferior. I stopped all that.
My hypocrisy is that I have hateful thoughts for maybe a second then I pray. I might say a curse word in the heat of the moment but, not even close to what my mouth was. I might grumble sometimes about mundane stuff. I am not to grumble I am to praise God in all I do and thank Him constantly.
If I say I follow Christ then I need to act like it. God needs people to know that I am a faithful man. I know I talk about pooping on peoples feelings sometimes but, if I offend someone I will make it right. I will do my best not to offend in the first place. Buuut, sometimes the truth can offend so there ya go.
Are your actions reflective of what you represent? I work daily to be known as a person with a Christian reputation and then people can call me a painter.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to show us how to do this life. Please help us to restore our reputations we may have lost. As we move forward help us to represent you in what we say and do. Let our outside reflect who lives in us. I pray for strength for all of us as we shine for you today. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
